OR-Fab Rock Sliders

Jeep Accessories

As with any build most guys sit around and look at a hundred different options of every aspect until we find what it is that we want for look, design, price and quality. The build of our 2014 Jeep Rubicon Unlimited was no different, we looked at, discussed and inquired about every option we could find online, in magazines or out on the trails.

One of the nice things about being in this business is that we cross paths with thousands of Jeep owners every year. We get to see what each product looks like on a Jeep, many times with the color option we are building or working on. We ask what they think of the product, which manufacture makes it, and even get to see how it performs out in the field to decide if we want to investigate further into that option or move onto the next.

After looking at a multitude of options for a step as well as rocker protection for this specific build I kept coming back to the OR-Fab Rock Slider. The thing that caught my eye and kept bringing me back to it as the leading option was the simplicity of the design. I looked at other that were almost identical but I would have to take my factory rockers off the vehicle, strip the powder coating off, and weld new cross tubes in place before welding the main outer tube onto what would be the full step. Maybe some guys want a modular option they can build a step with but I wanted a finished product that I could take out of a box and install. Another thing that drew me to this product was the strength and the way they mounted. I like the engineering behind the design; I could use existing holes and didn’t have to go drilling a bunch of new holes in the side of a brand new body panel. Plus it gave me the protection without covering the body panel under the doors and personally, I like that look better than other options I’ve seen.

OR-Fab “Rock Sliders” Install

The install was simple enough with just a matter of a few hand tools and simply removing the factory rocker protection, placing clips into the holes that they were mounted with and installing the new. There were a couple of weld nuts that did need to be ground off and the holes needed to be drilled out but that was easy enough.

With the old sliders removed, the weld nuts ground off and a couple of holes drilled; we add the supplied hardware needed to mount the steps and all we had to do was mount them. After getting everything on and aligned we locked down the hardware and moved onto the next step. It was that quick and easy which is again, why we chose OR-Fab for our build of “Project Teracon”.
